Conrail OCS 12 - 800390 - Model

Conrail 12, the conference car used on the Conrail Office Car special, is super easy to model in HO scale, thanks to Walthers. Start by getting a Walthers Budd Lounge car and remove the interior. Use the diagrams from the real car to figure out where the walls go. If you want to model the early version of Conrail 12, before the fluted roof was removed, you can simply leave the roof as-is. Modelling the later version of the car requires you to sand off the fluting on both sides, this is what I chose to do. The underbody details were completely replaced, some being custom made.

Something fun I chose to do was to model the photographs that hung inside the car, along with some of the prototypical interior touches.

I use Prime Mover Decals for all of my Conrail business cars. I find the yellow not too bright and generally think they are nice decals.
